Rearview Mirror 12-7-2017

  • We launched our new Christmas series last week, “What Child is This?” It is a looks a little deeper at the Christmas account by examining the significance of those God chose to use.
  • I want to say Thank You to the families that help to share the Christmas story with our congregation. A big thanks to the Fergusons for kicking off the advent celebrations last Sunday. I hope that you also will take some time to reflect on the celebration of the birth of Jesus. Let me encourage you to also attempt to bring cheer into the lives of others this season.
  • Joyce Pavledakes passed away earlier this week. She was a very special person to me and will be missed, yet I can rejoice that she is now with the Lord. The family will be hosting a viewing Wednesday December 13, 1-5pm at Tuell-McKee Funeral Home, 4843 Auto Center way Bremerton.  A memorial service is being planned for Friday December 16th 6PM at the Ministry Center. If you are able to help with the meal please contact Brenda B.
  • This is a great time to reach out to your friends and family. There are several opportunities that are coming this month.
    • Sunday December 17th we will be Caroling to Shut-ins, Family Members and Neighbors of those connected with our congregation. It is a special time and way of sharing the Christmas message with others and have a great time. Chef Zac will be preparing the meal for the fellowship after the event. We will be charging $3/ person or $10/family. We are also asking people to donate cookie plates to be use as gifts.
    • Christmas Eve falls on a Sunday. We will be holding two services. Our regular Sunday 10 AM service and our Candlelight Service at 6pm at Marcus Whitman. The Candlelight service is a 1 hour service that is perfect to bring friends and family to. It is a great way to keep Jesus in your Christmas celebration.
    • We are planning a New Years Eve Potluck and Game Night on New Years Eve at the Ministry Center. It is a great time after the holidays to relax, enjoy fellowship and have some fun!
  • Thanks to everyone that has supported our students Christmas Wreath sales. Your gifts are a huge help toward offsetting the cost of this event for our students.
  • The Ladies Annual Christmas Party is this Friday December 8, 7pm at the Ministry Center. The big change this year is the Candle exchange instead of the Ornament exchange. This corresponds to the Ladies theme “Let Your Light Shine.” So bring a wrapped candle (limit $5) for this year’s candle exchange. Food and drink will be provided.
  • Our December MMV (Monthly Memory Verse) is Bring Your Own Verse. I am encouraging each person to pick a verse from their Bible reading to commit to memory. I hope that you will share your verse with me. Let me encourage those of you with smart phones or tablets to check out the ScriptureTyper App. (IOS and Android)
  • This week in our “What Child is This?” series we will be looking at “So Why Wisemen?”  I hope that you will join us as we explore the biblical connection of the Magi or Wisemen from the East to the birth of the Messiah. Once again, I appreciate your prayers and especially at this busy time of the year.
