Rearview Mirror 4-30-2020

  •      It is hard to imagine that isolation could be so challenging. Let me encourage you to focus on a well-known verse. Let me point out that the word “temptation” can also be translated at “testing.” “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13) The Lord is doing a greater work than we can imagine during these challenge times!
  •      We are officially homeless as a church. I turned in the key for our office space at the mall. Nina, Nathan and myself are operating from our homes. This means we will be using one of our bedrooms for the Sunday livestream. It will also be available for other ministry livestream opportunities. As a side note you may have heard that there was a fire at Marcus Whitman. I have heard that a 15 year old boy was arrested on suspicion that he broke into the building and set the fire in the counselling area (where we have our nursery).
  • The ladies had a great online retreat with over 20 in attendance. The positive response has encouraged the Women’s ministry team to consider offering more events like this now that our Governor has extended the “stay in” order.
  • I would invite you to join the Wednesday Evening Bible Study 7pm on ZOOM (Zoom Link) We are doing a sermon based discussion on the message from the prior Sunday. We would love to have you. Please contact Pastor Joe for more information or for help getting online. If you are interested in another night, please let me know.
  • We continue to refine our Sunday Livestream on Facebook Live and Youtube. We will be Streaming again this  Sunday at 10 AM  to both Facebook and YouTube. (Clink Links). I would encourage you to invite others.
  • I want to give a shout out to Steve F and Daniel L for their help in getting the parking stops in place. We are looking forward to getting our SDAP wrapped up now that existing construction projects are allowed to progress. This means that our site plan and office should be able to now move forward. If you would like to serve with your hands please let Pastor Joe know. We could use help with watering, weeding and cutting the grass and there are other opportunities also.
  • Just a reminder for those with Kids at home that Kendra has “Sunday School” curriculum those parents interested. It can also be a wonderful source for a family devotion time (maybe after dinner around the table). Please contact her.
  • Let me remind you to join OnRealm our private online church communication platform. Invitation is by request by sending an email and phone number to joinrealm@alivinghope.net or contact Pastor Joe.
  • I want to thank those that have sent donations via mail, bill pay or Living Hope Online Giving(Clink Link). The church address for mail options is: Living Hope Church, P.O. Box 908, Port Orchard, WA 98366. Please contact Nathan F or Pastor Joe with any questions.
  • For May, our memory verse is from Galatians 6:10. ““So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.” Galatians 6:10 ESV If you struggle with memorizing or even consistency, let me encourage you to check out the Bible Memory App. (IOS and Android) www.BibleMemory.com
  • This week we will continue our mini-series on the “Fruit of the Spirit in Action.” This week we will be focusing on the blessing of humility as we strive to be a blessing to others. The blessing of a spirit filled life is manifest in being a blessing to others. We are called to be counter cultural! This week we would appreciate your prayer as we set up the “Living Hope Studio” in our home. Pray also for Pastor Berney and myself as we bring the challenge from our passage for this week.
