Rearview Mirror 4-9-2020

  •  We truly are living during an interesting time. Our lives and way of living are being reshaped right before our eyes. Who would have thought that on Easter Sunday church buildings would be all but vacant. I would concur with some that we may be living through one of those world changing once in a lifetime events. Yet, in the midst of this change God’s truth is being shared! I know that we are reaching people through our Sunday messages that have never attended our physical service. It is my hope and prayer that that Lord would use me and our congregation to be a lighthouse for the Gospel in the days, months and years ahead.
  • Last week I announced that the Ladies Retreat was cancelled, but things have changed. The Women’s Ministry team will be presenting a Livestream event using Zoom, Saturday April 25, 10AM. The details are being worked out. Please respond to ladiesretreat@alivinghope.net or contact Caryl Parkinson. (ZOOM Link)
  • If you are interested in connecting with others and digging deeper into God’s Word then plan to join us for the Online Bible Study on Zoom Wednesday evenings at 7PM. (Zoom Link) Please contact Pastor Joe for more information or for help getting online.
  • We continue to refine our Sunday Livestream on Facebook Live and Youtube. We will be Streaming again this  Sunday at 10 AM  to both Facebook and YouTube. (Clink Links). Many of our Easter Sunday traditions are on hold this week. We will be continuing to work through our passage in Galatians. I would encourage you to invite others.
  • Our physical facility situation is moving forward in a number of areas. We were able to finish the exterior trim on the Office modular, get our address numbers on the building and spread bark as a mulch around the landscaping. We have also made administrative progress on completing our SDAP permit. We are still on hold with getting electricity to the site, getting the SDAP completed and getting occupancy for the Office Modular. Your prayers are making a difference.
  • We also moved almost everything out of our office at the Mall this past Wednesday. We gave our 30 day notice and will be out at the end of April. I want to give a shout out to the guys that helped us move everything to the Office modular. The only thing at the Mall office now is our temporary “studio.”   The church staff will be working from home (as we have been doing over the last couple weeks).
  • Just a reminder for those with Kids at home that Kendra has “Sunday School” curriculum for those parents interested. It can also be a wonderful source for a family devotion time (maybe after dinner around the table). Please contact her.
  • Let me remind you to join OnRealm our private online church communication platform. Invitation is by request by sending an email and phone number to secretary@alivinghope.net or contact Pastor Joe.
  • I want to thank those that have sent donations via mail, bill pay or Living Hope Online Giving(Clink Link). The church address for mail options is: Living Hope Church, P.O. Box 908, Port Orchard, WA 98366. Please contact Nathan F or Pastor Joe with any questions.
  • For April I am encouraging everyone to work on, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22–23 ESV  If you struggle with memorizing or even consistency, let me encourage you to check out the Bible Memory App. (IOS and Android) www.BibleMemory.com
  • This Sunday we will be Celebrating Easter in a different way. We will be temporarily putting our Sunday Traditions on hold. We will be continuing our study in Galatians 5:19-21. We will be building off of last week’s emphasis to “walk in the Spirit!” We will be taking time to work through how to avoid those fleshly choices that hinder us from following Jesus. The sermon notes for Sunday can be found here under for the message. Thanks for your prayers. It has been a blessing to hear how the Lord is working through our current venues of ministry.
