Rearview Mirror 5-2-2019

  • I want to give out shout out to Pastor Berney and everyone that made it possible for Caryl and I to get away this past weekend. We made the journey east of the mountains to celebrate the birthdays with three of our grandsons. I made a commitment to make time with my family a priority. I hope that you will do the same. There are too many weak excuses for not being there for our kids games and others family events. Thank you.
  • It is crazy to think that we are into May. Let me just tick off the different events that are on the calendar.
  • The Ladies Discipleship group will be Saturday May 4th, 10am-Noon at Fergusons.
  • AWANA will be celebrating the end of another year. The AWANA Awards Night will be Sunday May 5th, 5:30 pm at Givens Community Center, 1026 Sidney Ave.
  • A new Moms Group is starting with a Play Day on May 9th 10 AM Thursday morning. This is a great opportunity to connect with other moms!
  • A Ladies Game night is planned for Friday May 10th 5 pm at Sutherland’s.
  • We will be celebrating Mothers Day on Sunday May 12th during the AM service. We will also be doing a Child Dedication during the service for those interested. Please contact Pastor Joe.
  • Guys the next Men’s Flapjacks and Fellowship is schedule for Saturday May 18th 8am at the Church Office.
  • Our ladies will be hosting a baby shower for Sheila on Saturday May 18. Please check the church bulletin for the specifics. I know that the Ladies Ministry team is planning a shower a month for those that are expecting. Exciting times.
  • Let me encourage you to plan for our Annual Business Meeting which will be Sunday May 19th at 6pm at a location to be yet determined. We will be voting on a Trustee position, the annual budget as well as discussing the next steps on the site development. There are many exciting things that are happening. It is also a great time to ask questions and provide input.
  • I would like to memorize the Lord’s Prayer over the next three months. This means that our May Monthly Memory Verse will be two verses in Matthew 6:9-10. I realize that this is a fairly well know verse. The value for you and me working on these verses is that it reminds us daily of God’s character and the necessity of prayer. ““Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:9–10 ESV) If you are struggling in this area, let me encourage you to check out the ScriptureTyper App. (IOS and Android)
  • Things continue to move forward on the property. We have a signed contract with the contractor that will be doing the site excavation. There is a good chance that they will be able to get started this Monday! YA!  We are waiting to schedule a meeting so that the permit can be issued and the work started. We have also made application for a building permit for the modular. Please continue to pray.
  • I am excited that Pastor Berney will be able to bring the second part of his mini-series this week. Let me encourage you to pray for Pastor Berney as he prepares.
