Rearview Mirror 11-24-2016

  • Let me wish you an early Thanks Giving. I hope that you are able to take a few minutes privately to reflect on God’s blessing in your life. I also hope that you will also take time with your family to do it corporately too. We are truly blessed and have so much to be thankful for.
  • I want to say thanks to everyone that participated in our Quarterly Business meeting. I am excited for how the Lord is going to work through our congregation in the days ahead. We will be challenged as we trust the Lord to help us move forward in ministering for Him in Port Orchard.
  • A big Thank you to everyone that participated in the Operation Christmas Child drive. I know of 46 kids that will be blessed by the folks from Living Hope. I am sure that there were others that dropped off their boxes directly. Just a reminder to share the final destination of your gifts with OCC Coordinator George H.
  • The Six 8 Christmas wreaths will be here this Sunday. We will also have some extras available too. It would be a huge blessing to the students if you could help pass the word and sell a couple wreaths to coworkers, friends and family. 100% of the costs for the Christmas Wreaths go to funding the Annual Teen Leadership Conference over Christmas break.
  • Our “Younger Adults” will be meeting on Friday December 2nd 6:30 and Nathan and Amy F. home. If you are an adult and interested in getting together for encouragement you will want to be there. This would include single, married and those with young children.
  • The Ladies Discipleship group meets the first Saturday of each month. The next meeting is Saturday December 3, 10am-Noon at the Ministry Center.
  • Discovery Baptist Church in Gig Harbor, our sister church,  holds a Living Nativity each year. This year the event will be on December 3-4 from 5-8PM. This is a must see event as you enter back into world of the Bible and are reminded of the Christmas story.
  • The Men’s Bible study that meets on Thursday mornings at 10:30 AM at the Ministry Center will not be meeting this week due to Thanksgiving. Guys, you are invited to join us December 1st.
  • The Ladies Annual Christmas party is Friday December 9th at 7pm at the Ministry Center. The emphasis will be an Old Fashion Christmas. Don’t forget to bring a wrapped Christmas Ornament for the gift exchange.
  • There will be a memorial service Saturday December 10th at 11 AM for Granny (Josephine Isaac) at the Ministry Center as we celebrate her life. There will be a potluck following. Please bring a Main Dish and Salad or Main Dish and Dessert.
  • We have several people that are interested in being baptized. We are scheduling a baptismal service for Sunday December 18th. If you are interested, you will want to contact Pastor Joe. There will also be a flyer in the bulletin over the next couple weeks.
  • Our Annual Christmas Caroling event and meal is scheduled for Sunday afternoon December 18th. I would encourage you to add this event to your calendar. It is one of our church highlights for the Christmas Season.
  • We will kick off our Christmas emphasis this week with Advent. It is a special time to remind us of the real meaning behind the holiday season. We will also be launching our Christmas series this Sunday. I do covet your prayers as I prepare for these messages.
