Living Hope Church was established as a church plant in Port Orchard, WA, in 2001. The founding pastor, Joe Parkinson, has been called to a new position as of the end of April, 2025. Pastor Joe is now the Executive Director of the Baptist Network Northwest. The church is in fellowship with the BNN (regionally) and the GARBC (nationally).

Living Hope Church (originally Living Hope Community Baptist Church) is in the process of leadership transition and rebuilding. In years past, the church had a robust congregation of over a hundred, while meeting at a local middle school. In more recent years, the church was able to purchase property and develop new facilities. The COVID pandemic and relocations due to political dynamics of that era led to losses from the congregation. Currently, the congregation averages about 30-35 adults and 7-9 children and teens. The church is blessed with a good number of spiritually mature and capable ministry leaders and involved servants.

Living Hope Church is presently served by an interim pastor and is led internally by an ad hoc advisory team made up of ministry leaders. Trustees oversee financial and facility responsibilities. The search committee also meets regularly to evaluate and prepare the church internally and to seek and evaluate potential candidates for the position of lead pastor. Members of the church family frequently express their confidence in the Lord’s provision as they pray for the Lord to bless and prepare the next leader for this ministry.

Port Orchard is a growing community on the Kitsap Peninsula, nestled along Sinclair Inlet, across from Bremerton, WA, with its historic and active Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Naval Base Kitsap. Demographic projections anticipate continued growth with further increase in local naval families and the expansion of other major employers. Medical and educational industries are among the strong sectors, along with the wide variety of businesses that support and supply the naval shipyard. Kitsap County and the whole region is characterized by green forests, many beautiful waterways, lakes, and majestic mountains in the distance.
